Biography

Matthew Foti is a writer and editor based in Toronto, Ontario. In 2022, he completed a master’s of English Literature at the University of Ottawa, where he focused on trauma and psychoanalytic readings of the Beat Movement, before completing a Publishing certificate at Centennial College in 2024. Currently, Matthew works as a sales coordinator and freelance editor in Toronto. His editing has touched texts at Canadian presses, such as Latitude 46 Publishing and Pajama Press, and strengthened several books. Among the titles he has worked on are LIES I TOLD MY SISTER by Louise Ells, SEA BIRD by Michelle Kadarusman, and HOW TO SAVE A LIBRARY by Colleen Nelson. Regarding his creative work, Matthew published a poem titled “Create and Crumble” in the literary magazine Blueprint and spoke at a conference where he discussed his short story “Yellow Paint.” THE CURSE OF CARE would be his debut novel as he continues to work on his next book, CLOWN FETISH.
